Our summer of salvage kicked-off in style last month at Ripley Castle and, as ever, the standard of stock was breathtaking. Eager crowds flocked in to snap up the best decorative antiques, architectural and garden salvage, industrial furniture and salvaged home furnishing and accessories available in the region. Many made a day out of it, enjoying leisurely browsing and a bite to eat. Some shopped so enthusiastically that they had to come back for a second hit.
Janine Arndt and Nils Braakmann (above) found this wonderful arch, originally from an 18th century church in the Northern French city of Amiems. As big fans of the show the pair said "we have quite different taste but this show is where both of our styles meet and we always shop successfully" - a great testiment to the brilliant mix of stock available.
With time marching swiftly on we are already leading up to our second Decorative Home & Salvage Show of the season, which opens at Cheshire Showground this Friday and runs for three days (June 9th – 11th).
With another stellar line-up of exhibitors there are some real treats in store for our visitors, whether you like pretty French antiques or chunky statement salvage, quirky industrial upcycled furniture of unusual salvaged home accessories. If you've visited one of these shows before then you will know how each-and-every exhibitor makes an incredible effort, some stands are so impressive that it's hard to believe you are standing in a field and not in the finest Parisian boutique.
One exhibitor who has got us excited is Reclaimed World, a local company dedicated to saving English architectural treasures, who are taking a double pitch, bringing with them a London double-decker bus which has been turned into a funky mobile showroom especially for the show. Fully kitted out with a reclaimed scaffold plank floor and tabletops, they plan to show off interior items such as antique and vintage furniture, decorative pieces, and a cool range of lighting crafted from re-purposed musical instruments and other fun objects (you’ll find larger items outside). This is a stand not to miss. With lots to see and an easy to navigate show layout you won't miss a thing, so rest assured.
Make sure you come prepared with plenty of cash (although some exhibitors do take cards) and lots of bags and an empty car boot ready to transport all your wonderful buys home in. Don’t forget that we have free on-site parking, all day food and light refreshments and a licensed bar. Dogs on leads are welcome.
As well as all the wonderful dealers on our seventy strong exhibitor list, the very brilliant Reclaim magazine (above - regular contributors Alice Roberton & Edd Thomas enjoying the stand in May!), who went down a storm at the Ripley show, will be joining us again on a stand just inside the entrance. Make sure you stop by for a chat, pick up a magazine or take out a subscription.
